At Hartselle Health Co., Inc., our team believes that people deserve to have choices when it comes to meeting their overall health and wellness needs.
We’ve structured our practice on a concierge model, which means we see fewer patients, allowing us to spend more time delving into their unique needs and goals. Care is led by Brooke Bevis, CRNP, with Dr. Ryan McMorries as Medical Director.
Our Executive Healthspan Assessment is the perfect example. Conducted over two office visits, this assessment provides an in-depth look at your current health. We also always consider your priorities and purposes regarding your overall health.
From there, we can shape individualized plans to enhance and preserve how you feel and function. The goal is to help you achieve peak health not only now, but as you age. Living your best possible life at every phase.
So, let’s take a look at what you can expect from an Executive Healthspan Assessment.
With the Executive Healthspan Assessment, you receive a full set of labs, including a hormone evaluation when appropriate, derived from one simple blood draw. The results will show whether you’re in the “normal” range. More importantly, Brooke looks at your metrics as part of the bigger picture of your overall health.
That means assessing how your lab results measure against how you feel and function each day, including performance, sleep, cognitive function, and body composition. If you have any chronic health conditions like hypertension or diabetes, lab testing helps measure how well your treatment efforts are working over time.
Thanks to advances in medical technology, today’s body composition scans are far more precise than what was available even a few short years ago. A quick, painless, in-office scan reveals an accurate picture of your hydration, lean mass, fat mass, and an estimation of your visceral fat.
Your results serve as a baseline for tracking improvement over time. For example, if you pursue medical weight loss, you’ll be able to see the exact changes in your body composition as you lose fat, build muscle, and change the shape of your body.
On your first visit, you’ll receive an Oura® ring to wear for the next two weeks. This device captures data across all aspects of your daily life. It will provide insight into how well you’re sleeping, how your heart rate shifts during the day, and how well your body recovers after exercise.
When you come in for the second portion of the Executive Healthspan Assessment, we’ll review the data collected by your Oura ring and incorporate it into your results.
Of course, you don’t have to make wearing a health-tracking device part of your plan, but many patients enjoy the ability to track their exercise, sleep, and other metrics as they work to improve health and wellness.
VO2 max (maximal oxygen uptake) is an objective measure of your overall fitness. It works by measuring the volume of oxygen your body uses during exercise. Essentially, this test looks at how effectively your muscles extract and use oxygen from your blood.
The process involves wearing a heart rate monitor and a mask that measures your oxygen intake. Once you have your gear in place, you begin running on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike for a short period. The workout intensity gradually increases, and you can stop the test at any time if needed.
Your results become part of your baseline, allowing you and your care team to track changes over time.
The reason we include so many tools in the Executive Healthspan Assessment is to gather a wide range of data about your current health and performance. That gives us a great starting point for setting goals and recommending personalized lifestyle modifications.
Your results also serve as a tracking tool, enabling you to see how your efforts affect your body and quality of life. During your assessment, you’ll also complete targeted questionnaires, a quick cognitive-processing test, and basic strength testing.
All of these tools allow our team to present you with your HHC score, which outlines a function-age estimate. Powered by the Axiom Healthspan Index, this is a personalized estimate of your functional capacity and is often different than your chronological age.
The results include a focused 90-day Blueprint that outlines the goal of reaching and maintaining a functional age at (or ideally below) your chronological age.
